Founded in 1988, the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI GmbH) istoday one of the largest non-profit contract research institutes in the field of innovative software technology based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods. DFKI is focusing on the complete cycleof innovation – from world-class basic research and technology development through leading-edge demonstrators and prototypes to product functions and commercialization. Only by maintaining research projects at the forefront of science DFKI has the strength to meet its technology transfer goals. The department “Augmented Vision” focuses on research and industrial applications in the area of computer vision, augmented reality, 3D reconstruction and sensor fusion. It rapidly grew and developed key-technologies in the area of camera tracking, object tracking, 3D reconstruction of mid-sized objects or large scenes and in general, computer vision algorithms. The department is strongly involved in all aspects of augmented reality including various related subtopics such as 3DComputer Vision, Sensor Fusion, Object Tracking and Reconstruction based on Depth Cameras.
