GISIG is a European Association on Geographical Information, validated as a non-profit SME organization.
Its members, from more than 20 EU Countries, are Universities and research institutions, GIS technology suppliers, local bodies and companies operating on territorial subjects. GISIG has a long record of experiences in the areas of GIS, both on tools and on their applications (territorial planning, coastal areas, water resources, nature conservation, technological networks …) with an interdisciplinary approach.
GISIG is Member of the Copernicus Academy Network, collaborating with other entities to support the Copernicus data and services user uptake and is member of the Big Data Value Association (BDVA), with interests in Big Data value chain.
Over the past 25 years GISIG has been promoting and coordinating several EC projects involving wide networks of partners and contacts, having gained a well-recognised experience in managing large scale cooperation projects.
The Association deals also with the promotion of thematic networks and has a continuous contact with targeted users. It organizes training and dissemination activities towards user Communities. GISIG objectives are to operate for Innovation and Technology Transfer in the GIS.
